Budapest, Hungary - Signed 1990
In 1989, in the middle of the wall collapsing drama, the Mayor of Budapest made a visit to Fort Worth to invite then Mayor Bob Bolen to consider becoming Sister Cities. Fort Worth became the first U.S. city to link in Hungary and this partnership continues to produce interesting and resourceful exchanges such as: Texas Christian University's Budapest campus; Cliburn Piano Institute-Franz Liszt Academy Scholar exchanges; home healthcare delivery service programs; Vision Festival 2001; hosting 150 Texans and marching bands in a cultural festival; and countless civic, sports and economic exchanges.
CIty Update for May 2008
Thanks to the Budapest group for a great photo sharing party for our youth ambassadors. Please join us as we plan for the September choir concert and brainstorm future programs and exchanges.
City Update for June 2008
The Budapest group will meet this month before the membership meeting to continue their program planning. They may also have a special piano concert, so stay tuned for details.
